EU and EEA APPLICANTS

 

Step 1: Fill and prepare the following:

  1. Application form;
  2. Declaration
  3. Application for foreign degree recognition

NOTE: You should pay special attention to the list of documents you need to submit. Be sure to check the specific requirements to each document listed on the last page of the application form.

 

Step 2Due to the current health situation the submission of the application package can be done:

  • Via regular mail to the official address of the university: 21 Montevideo Str, 1618 Sofia, Bulgaria, for International Relations Office.

Step 3If your application documents and previous degrees are approved after the Procedure for Recognition of Foreign Degrees and Qualifications, you will be contacted by the International Relations Office with instructions what to do next.

 

Step 4: After recognition the applicant should arrange an admissions interview at New Bulgarian University. For more information about admissions interview dates, registration periods and deadlines please contact the Office of International Relations.

 

Step 5: If you are approved, you have seven days from the date of the interview to pay the tuition fee.

 

Step 6: Registration as a student at the International Relations Office at the Student center, Building 1.

 

International students who want to apply for a program taught in Bulgarian will have to pass a test defining their command of Bulgarian language. If they are not fluent at all, they will have to take a preliminary year studying intensively only Bulgarian.

International students who want to apply for a program taught in English should submit an internationally recognized certificate of English proficiency.

Please note that only applicants who have did the entry exam (interview) and have submitted the whole set of the required application documents (legalized, translated into Bulgarian language and certified) as per our requirements and within the deadlines, would be admitted to our programs. 

  Applicants should enroll within the announced deadlines, otherwise their original documents will be sent back within three months after they were notified about the positive result from the interview.

 

 

Non-EU applicants

Step 4: After recognition the applicant should arrange an admissions interview. Following the interwiew NBU submits for approval the application to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. After taking decision on the application, either a Certificate on the right of the applicant to study (D-type Visa) is issued or a denial is received. The issuance of this document takes up to a month.

Once the University receives the Certificate, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science, the applicant will be then notified (by e-mail/phone) to collect the Ministry Certificate personally from the University or by an authorized representative.

 

Step 5: After receiving the acceptance letters the applicant has to apply for Bulgarian Student Visa (D-type Visa) valid from 3 to 6 months. Bulgarian student Visa can be obtained from any Bulgarian Diplomatic Mission abroad and it is required to all non EU/EEA students in Bulgaria.
